The foundation for environmental management in the country of operation is environmental legislation promulgated by the Government.

Where the Government has yet to issue legislation addressing a particular environmental subject it may be appropriate to refer to International Laws as well as guidance and standards that are commonly recognized internationally: These include standards issued by recognized international organizations such as the World Health Organisation, World Bank or US Environmental Protection Agency.
